I'M BY FAR MY WORST CRITIC.
Like, for real.
I'll publish a photoshoot...and then wish I'd never shown anyone the images because they're not as perfect as I'd want them. Every time I re-do my website, within a few months I feel it's outdated and want to completely re-create the entire site from the ground up. And it's the same with my creative aspirations.
There's so many things I want to do, so much I want to accomplish, so many places I want to see growth...and when I don't see growth to the extent I want, I blame myself and am tempted to sit in a puddle of self-misery and doubt everything I've ever done.
Maybe you've been there. Maybe you're there right now. Either way, I feel you – it's hard to have aspirations and feel like you're never going to reach them. It's frustrating when you know where you want to be (and even know you're probably going to get there) but just know how much hard work is between the here and now and the ultimate goals you want to achieve.
Plateau is frustrating and the struggle is real.
BUT HERE'S THE PROBLEM...
...PLATEAU IS DECEIVINGLY EASY.
It's easy to doubt. It's easy to wish you'd accomplished more. It's easy to blame yourself when you don't live up to your own standards. It's easy to sit on a plateau.
But here's the beauty of it...the struggle doesn't have to paralyze you. In fact, it's just the opposite. If you're living in the struggle right now, that means you recognize that you have room for growth. And I'd much rather you struggle with the fact that you're not where you want to be than be content on the plateau.
SO EMBRACE THE STRUGGLE – LET IT PROPEL YOU TO KEEP GROWING.
At the end of the day you have two options. Either run from the struggle, live in the easy, and end up never growing or implementing the ideas you have...or embrace the struggle, fight to keep climbing, and let your dissatisfaction with the present empower you to further accomplishments.
